The Modern Pharisee

Firstly, I would like to appologize for not writing any music lately.  I have been very busy over the summer and of late and have not written much.  Secondly, this song is about, well, what I like to call the 'Modern Day '.

Verse 1:
Have you ever had the answer but no one would believe?
Trapped inside you body like a helpless little seed

It's trying to awaken but nobody understands
The reason you're forgiven was never in your hands

You focus on the honor just to glorify yourself
but soon you'll realize that there's a heaven and a hell

Pre-Chorus:
when will you
Realize
There's more to living than being alive

Chorus:
Because, everytime when you clos eyou eyes
He's the reason you realize when you wake up in the morning

Every night in the cloudless sky, when the stars seem to come alive,
He named each one and put them in their place

And have you ever wondered why,
Trees on the mountain side, never die, never die,
Like we'll never die

Verse 2:
It seems the world is growing older ever slowly passing by
The people wonder aimlessly without their ears or eyes

But you saw all this coming, you warned us with you word
So that our only purpose is to bring them to your doors

Now everyday they struggle, and everyday they fight
Why can't they tell from all the bruises they're blind without the light

Chorus

Bridge:
Have you ever wondered why, every time when you close your eyes
You wake up in the morning

Chorus 2:
It's because of the love inside he showed when he sent his son,
To die for us

So how could you pass him by, our God who lived to die for you,
Because he loves you, he loves you

Winningggg ;)

So today I went to Lorenzo's Coffee House in downtown Vancouver and auditioned to be one his two performers for his coffee house.  Anyways, he loved me and my voice and everything so I'm going to start playing there!  Right now he has me playing while his other musician is taking breaks on this Friday night and I'm playing Sunday afternoon for a church group that comes in.  Also, another owner of another coffee house is interested in having me play for his place as well so if he likes what he hears on Sunday I might have that job to!  God has definitely blessed me beyond belief.

"Recording"

So I've been really busy over this summer and I haven't been able to record in the studio like I had hoped to but I found a little mic that kind of works for recording.  It's not very good quality and it was kind of a one run through and post kind of thing but I just recorded Our Current State, and a cover I did of Justin Bieber's Baby just for giggles.  Again, not my best recording but I just wanted to put a little something out there.  Hope you enjoy.

The Almost - God's Song

Again, Aaron Gillespie talking about where his inspiration for his song titled God's Song came from.  He brings up a good point that we as Americans worship based on circumstance a lot and not just because God is God, the one we were just meant to worship in general because he is God.

The Almost - True Christianity

So I know I haven't posted music in a little while but this is Aaron Gillespie talking about what he feels true Christianity is all about.  I seriously look up to this guy so much, he is amazing.

Be Still and Breathe

I started writing this song after all of the deaths around my school happened and all of the tragedy through tornadoes across the U.S happened.  I know everyone was hurting, some more than others, but by everyone I do mean everyone.  The main message of this song is to just (as the title says) be still and breathe.  God will take care of you if you put your faith in him.

Verse 1
I'd like to pray for all the broken
I'd like to pray for all the weak
Sometimes it seems like there's no answer to the suffering but you
Are God, and that's all you need to say

Chorus
Be still and breathe, I'll end your suffering
And I'll love you for all of your days
This life is tough, and when it seems I've given you to much
Bow your head; pray and believe

Verse 2
The violent storm that shakes the ocean
The earthquake with no relief
And when it feels like this world is falling apart
I still believe

Chorus

Verse 3/Bridge
For years you've said there's a new earth waiting
For us to rest all our days
No hell of highwater will ever touch us there
Only your grace
Only your grace
Only your grace!

Chorus

Outro
By the blood of the father
Through the sinless lamb
Ill never understand how your love
Could touch such a sinful man like me...

Untitled

Recently one of my oldest friends Douglas Sweeney committed suicide.  I have known him since third grade and had no idea anything like this would have ever happened.  The worst part is, is that he didn't know the Lord so sadly, no matter how much it hurts to admit, he will have everlasting death.  If only I could have brought him to Christ then maybe he wouldn't have even killed himself.  I miss him and this song is my interpretation on what God's perspective is on his death....

Verse 1
I remember when you opened your eyes for the first time
I remember that smile you gave to your mom
I knew it'd end like this but nothing can prepare you for the death of a son

Chorus
ooooooonly, if you had know me
back, when you were afraid, of living his way
life, is all to short, to end it like yours
You'll always be in my heart, but that doesn't mean your coming back

Verse 2
I remember the day that you turned eight I'm getting
Older you said, it made me want to cry
Can we make this last a little longer, were halfway there

Chorus

Verse 3
I rmember the first day of sixth grade look at me
now, I'm on top of the world
Then why aren't you standing next to me

Chorus

Bridge
Then sophmore year came around, I still wasn't
there to hold you feet on the ground
You will never know the perfect love I have
The grace and mercy everlasting
All of this and more could've been yours
If you would've just
believed

Chorus

Loving Heart Longing For More (subject to name change)

I wrote this song from the perspective of someone who loves the Lord and even though they are christian, they are trying to search God out even more and find him throughout his daily life.  This, I believe, is the mindset that all Christians should have.  Once you have taken that step to say yes to the Lord and put you faith in him, you should be constantly seeking him out.  I don't care if you have just become a christian, or if you're 80 years old and have been a christian all your life.  God, even though tells us who he is in through the Bible, will always remain a mystery and we can't and won't know everything there is to know about God until we go to heaven.  I anxiously await that day...

Verse 1
Wait for me I am walking in your steps
Counting time like a drum beat out of line
Hear me now it's my one shot to make this last
I need you, I need you

Can you tell by the way I say your name
I'm so in love with you
And you love me all the same
For all of my days, all of my days

Chorus
Can you hear me, I am calling out your name
I need you like the ocean needs the moon to tell it where to go
I am helpless, I am hopeless without you
I know you can see it in my eyes, I will always long for more

Verse 2
Listening to you song, It's in the birds that sing
Its in the wind that leaves
the leafs on the ground
It's your love that's all around

Chorus

Bridge
Where are you now? (wait for me)
Where are you now? (wait for me)
I'm in the mountains watching over you
I'll never let you go
Where are you now? (wait for me)
Where are you now? (wait for me)
I'm in the waves crashing on you knees
Can you feel the sand between you feet

Build Up x3
Can you hear me
Can you hear me
I'm running afteryou
I see you waiting to

Chorus

Our Current State (We The Light)

I think this is the very first worship song I ever wrote.  When I was writing it I was just thinking about how messed up the earth is right now.  Ever since Adam and Eve the world has only  been turmoil.  God even had to flood the entire earth because of it!  If God hadn't promised not to do it again, I'm sure he would have flooded it at least another dozen times by now.  Our job though as Christians and children of the light, is to guide others to Christ and try to make a difference on the earth during our short time here and that's really what this song is about.

(verse1)
I look around and i see
the reason we're all doomed to bleed
the reason we're all dead inside

When mindless heads wander the street
we only think of what we need
the things we think make up our lives

Pre-Chorus
So i sing
sing out oud

(Chorus)
So, lift your hands
let me see
your voices shouting to the sea
the beauty of our god is everlasting

we will shine
with our light
across this dark midnight sky
for those today to see and forever more

(verse2)
I think about the day we're all waiting for
the day that Jesus our savior will rescue us from this earth

Oh let it come cuz when it comes
you know that I'll be ready
to move on to heaven

Pre-Chorus
And this is why is sing
sing so proud

(Chorus)

(bridge)
And maybe one day
God, I hope that someday soon
you'll let me play this song for you
this is all for you

(Chorus X2)

This Is Weakness (You Promised Theres a Day)

This song was written when I was in a fairly dark place.  Not so much emotionally or physically, but spiritually.  Even though we as humans are dirty, broken, and shattered beyond what may seem repairable, God sent his one and only son down Jesus to die for our sins so that we may be repaired.  If we put our entire faith in the Lord we will not perish but have everlasting life.  We will become sinless and enjoy a life on a new earth.  Although we all have weakness, God has promised there will be a day when we will all be washed clean.

Verse 1
Why am I so afraid
To be left here by myself
Temptation is crawling
into my head
This is weakness
I have always struggled with
are my walls
crumbling down

Pre-Chorus
But I'm not left alone in the dark
There is one who will always posses my heart

Chorus
Jesus, I'm counting on you again
to come and free my heart from this sin
I know I'm dirty; you can see
But you promised there's a day that we'll all be washed clean

Verse 2
The room has
Slowly filled with smoke
As I take another drag of poison to my soul!
Is it worth it
You scream to my face
I'm having trouble hearing right now
This will have to wait

Pre-Chorus
I've locked the doors I can not breathe
I've finally realized, God this isn't me!

Chorus

Bridge
Thank you God
For rescuing my soul
I couldn't have done it without you
could have left me on my own
But by grace I'm saved through faith
This I know you told me
Now I see, now I see

Chorus x2

Kids In The Way

This song was originally written as a metal song for my old band but it works fairly well as an acoustic song to.  This song is just a tremendous cry out to God to save me from the temptations of life.  I used to have a little problem with drugs, more than I let most people know, and I wrote this song during this time.  Although temptation will always be there, I am drug free and forever will be.

Verse 1
Sometimes I'm so scared I can't think to talk to you
The pain thats in my life right now is something I can't get through
I'm sick of all these things that lead me away from you
That lead me away from you

Chorus
I'm tired of the lies
These black and empty skies come raining down on me
I'm tired of the hate
The simplest words  you say can penetrate the deepest parts of me
And I'm tired of you
And what you need me to be

Verse 2
Livin life by the mile just to get high
Is this really what you have called me to be
I've let you down please let me in
God save me
God save me

Chorus

Bridge
And even as I write this song
You sit upon your oh so royal throne
Your judging me
Try to break me down

Chorus x2
